The Great Get Together

Get ready for The Great Get Together

The Parish Council has organised a grand picnic on Sunday, 18th June 2017 from 1.00 pm to 6.30 pm at the Long Hanborough Pavilion. It is part of The Great Get Together, which is a national event in support of Jo Cox’s wish to unite communities and to tackle loneliness. Jo Cox was tragically killed on 16 June 2016 - this event is one of many that are happening nationally throughout the weekend of 17-18 June in memory of Jo and inspired by her tireless work to unite communities and celebrate all that we have in common. Lets try and make this the biggest street party ever.

Fingers crossed, the weather is looking good for this great picnic. Don't forget sun screen, hats and water.

  • There will be a bar.
  • The playing fields can be used as a place to have your picnic, play games, meet up with friends and neighbours and have a fun afternoon.
  • The Market Garden will be selling ice creams, strawberries and cream and healthy snacks.
  • The Guides will be serving delicious teas and cakes.
  • We have a most spectacular raffle with some extremely generous prizes donated by local businesses.
  • We also have three musical attractions and square dancing (see poster above).

Don't forget to come along, even if it is just for an hour or two but if you can stay all afternoon, all the better.

Please Note: For safety reasons, barbecues of any shape or form are not allowed.

Also, parking might be tight but you are more than welcome to drive up and drop off picnic equipment if you have too much to carry, and park if you find a space. Otherwise, if you can and don't live too far away, walking might be best.
